Why Should I Choose Natural Painkillers over NSAIDs?

Doctor Hoy's Blog: Why Choose Natural Painkillers over NSAIDs?

Is There a True Natural Pain Relief Option?

Every now and then one has the need for pain killers. The commonly available, over-the-counter, pain killers are widely used for this purpose. Most of these drugs are considered NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). While NSAIDs reduce swelling and pain, they can have some serious side effects, like kidney damage and gastric ulcers. What if we tell you there’s a natural option, that works? With no kidney damage and offers other health benefits. Read on to learn more about Doctor Hoy’s natural pain relief

NSAIDs Negative Effects

NSAIDs are anti-inflammatory drugs that relieve pain by reducing inflammation in the damaged tissue. It does so by inhibiting the Cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway, which produces prostaglandins and thromboxanes. These substances are primarily responsible for the inflammation that ensues after a tissue injury or infection inside the body. NSAIDs are therefore helpful in mitigating pain symptoms. The prostaglandins, however, mitigate many good functions. Blocking these effects by chronic intake of NSAIDs can have adverse side effects.

  • Renal Artery Stenosis - NSAIDs constrict the arteries carrying blood to the kidneys. Blood is crucial for the survival of any organ, therefore extended use can cause the kidneys to suffer damage. Some NSAIDs, especially in high doses, directly deposit in the kidney infrastructure and cause damage, like interstitial nephritis.
  • Hypertension - In order to increase the blood flow to the kidneys, our body increases blood pressure. Chronic NSAID use can lead to hypertension. As you might know, hypertension is a gateway to many problems including cardiomyopathy and aortic stenosis.
  • Gastric Ulcers - Prostaglandins are necessary to build a protective barrier on the stomach mucosa to protect against stomach acid. NSAIDs reduce this protective barrier, leading to ulcer formation in the stomach. In severe cases, these ulcers can bleed and become life-threatening.

Natural Pain Killers over NSAIDs

While NSAIDs are useful in various circumstances, we know that there can be some serious downsides to their use. So, what should we use instead? The answer to this question is natural topical pain relievers, such as Doctor Hoy's Pain Relief Gel. Doctor Hoy’s Pain Relief Gel can be applied externally at the site of inflammation to help soothe the pain and promote healing.

Natural pain killers are effective in several applications, such as a topical, and have great results. These products contain extracts from plants and other organic compounds occurring naturally. This means a much safer approach to alleviating the pain caused from injuries and joint inflammations.
